Empathy Surplus has a Giving Tuesday patron!
We have an anonymous recurring matching donor who will match your recurring donations one-to-one. Your $10/mo donation grows to $20/mo.
Welcome back, subscribers to the Substack of Empathy Surplus Network USA. I am pleased to announce that we have a Giving Tuesday anonymous one-to-one matching donor for all recurring donations.
Here’s the Giving Tuesday link.
Recurring donors help us achieve our mission to make empathy for and responsibility to humanity central to constant public discourse. One way Empathy Surplus achieves its mission is to give away a pocketbook version (below) of the Illustrated Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). Last month, I presented a half dozen pocketbooks each to the legislative aides of two Ohio General Assembly members, urging them to consider sponsoring CARE Education to require students in grades K-12 to [a] learn how to cultivate empathy and [b] learn about the UDHR. One aide was 23 years old, and the other 33. Neither had ever read the UDHR until Empathy Surplus recurring donors like YOU helped us give them a pocketbook.
Empathy Surplus is a nonpartisan, membership, science-based communication education 501c3 collective to strengthen our progressive biases toward empathy and mutual responsibility to expand our freedoms. The embodied human brain is cognitively biased through experience and language toward conservatism in some areas of our lives and progressivism toward others. This cognitive bias is called biconceptualism. We want to know what’s most important to our members. To achieve our mission, we use interactive Zoom forums to apply and share what we learn from the books of cognitive scientist, linguist, and progressive activist George Lakoff to our individual goals.
