Empathy Surplus founders invited the Ohio State House of Representatives to cultivate empathy.
An Open Letter to the Ohio State House of Representatives
It’s Mothers’ Day in Ohio, and her strong, diverse, nurturing families should be happy about the care our representatives provide us. But we fear the chronic, ongoing empathy deficit in our Ohio General Assembly is responsible for growing harm and loss of freedom. And that fear was on moral outrage display in the rotunda and gallery of Ohio’s State House Wednesday, May 10, when the founder and co-founders of Empathy Surplus Network USA were introduced to the session thanks to Minority Leader Allison Russo.
Grateful for Empathy Governance
It’s Mothers’ Day in Ohio, and we hope you enjoy your complimentary, blue pocketbook-sized version of the Illustrated Universal Declaration of Human Rights delivered to your internal mail last week. We remind you that we all have brains. Since all ideas are physical, science tells us empathic common sense can be strengthened by intentional, ongoing repetition of the values of empathy and mutual responsibility to political and moral discourse. And despite our fear, we are grateful for your service to protect and empower all Ohioans. We are especially grateful for the five empathic, partially progressive GOP members of the Ohio House who joined Democrats and voted NO to the 60% supermajority amendment.
Zoom Forum Invitation
It’s Mothers’ Day in Ohio, and you are invited to become a member of our Empathy Surplus Network USA occasional Zoom forums. We are a non-partisan local human rights values education collective. We aspire to be a progressive membership alternative to A.L.E.C. and look for member candidates in public government, ethical business, and civil society that already govern some of their life with empathy for and responsibility to humanity. Then collectively, we focus on applying the latest brain insights of cognitive scientist and linguist George Lakoff to build an empathy surplus in Ohio brains.
Anti-Corruption of Human Rights Protection in Public Government
It’s Mothers’ Day in Ohio, and we have been members of the USA Network of the UN Global Compact since 2014. Find the Global Compact’s Ten Principles on human rights on page 43 of your new pocketbook. One of the principles is anti-corruption of human rights protection in public government. We are excited that more companies doing business in Ohio have committed themselves to become ethical by aligning their operations around the Ten Principles that focus on protecting human rights. Best regards.
Caring human beings and pro-empathy voters are the solutions,
